I am going to try and not tear up writing this blog post. Why? Because this blog post is Kat and Carter’s blog post… my best friend’s wedding. She’s married. MARRIED, you guys. We have been together for 12 years, we lived together for 3, we have been there for each other through so much in our lives. She hands me her phone to text people when she needs to sound tactful, I call her when I need her to shoot me straight or make me laugh uncontrollably. We have that “I’m going to tell you you’re being dumb and you will still love me” relationship. She’s one of my favorite people and the honorary aunt to Oakley. I love her.
Enter Carter. Kat and Carter actually met around the same time Kat and I met each other back when we were 19 years old. They went on a few dates and Carter broke it off when he saw they weren’t in the same place right at that moment. Kat and I use to stay up late watching movies and talking boys, Carter was almost always brought up, so we would Facebook creep on him to see how this “guy who was super hot and Kat went on a few dates with” was doing (don’t act like you haven’t been a creeper at one point or another – haha). Fast forward a few more years and they bumped into one another, she invited him out to the bar we were at one night and I’m pretty sure I said only two words to him the whole night- “oh hi.” I didn’t talk to guys who hurt her, duh. But then he came back, again, again, and again. He didn’t leave, he sweet talked his way into my life (lets be real, Kat was a goner when he came back immediately, I was not so easily swayed though). Carter is determined, loyal, inappropriately hilarious, a true gentleman’s kind of guy. He fits her perfectly. They just get one another, it took a while for them to get there and understand one another’s quirks but they work best as a team. They are both passionate people and mad about one another, I’m beyond thankful for not only being their wedding photographer but also to have been a bridesmaid in their wedding. They are two of my favorite people, so much so Jared and I just asked Carter to be the godfather of Oakley. That is how much they mean to us.
Jared and I love you two, more than I can ever put into words. Here is to all of us growing old together.
Oh, and I made the bar sign! Another business? Maybe, maybe not. Ha!
Oakley was even a guest!
Jared was able to make it to the reception, and thankfully we have these. Sums us up pretty well.
Did I mention Carter is the lead singer of a band? They played and his brother’s rocked out.
We have this exact image from my own wedding day of the two of us.
